Description

SUMMARY:  To lead students toward the fulfillment of their individual academic and career and technical education potential for intellectual, emotional, and psychological growth and maturation.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develops and maintains a classroom environment conducive in effective learning within the limits of the resources provided by the District.
  • Prepares and uses current materials and strategies for class assigned, and shows written evidence of such preparation upon request of immediate superior.
  • Encourages students to set and maintain standards of academic/career and technical education and classroom behavior.
  • Employs a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media, consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
  • Strives to implement by instruction and action the district’s philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
  • Takes all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Evaluates student progress on a regular basis.
  • Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative
  • Assists in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and Board policy.
  • Makes provision for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.
  • Attends and participates in faculty meetings.
  • Cooperates with other members of the staff in planning instructional goals, objectives, and methods.
  • Assists in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
  • Accepts a share of responsibility for co-curricular activities as assigned.
  • Works to establish and maintain open lines of communication with students and their parents concerning both the broad academic and behavioral progress of all assigned students.
  • Provides for his/her own professional growth through an ongoing program of reading, workshops, seminars, conferences, and/or advanced course work at institutions of higher learning.
  • Provides proof and maintains a high degree of career and technical education preparation in his/her subject area

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Working knowledge of cleaning methods, supplies, equipment and safety practices.
  • Ability to perform work independent of direct supervision and to complete assigned tasks on schedule.
  • Ability to work harmoniously with other people 
  • Ability to understand and follow written and oral directions, including instructions on labels for the proper mixing and use of cleaning materials. 
  • Ability to write legibly on forms and other documents. 
  • Ability to perform heavy and demanding physical labor. 
  • Ability to maintain consistent and punctual attendance 
  • Ability to demonstrate the city’s Public Service Competencies of Service Orientation, Results Orientation, and Teamwork and Cooperation.

 

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS/EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Education & Experience:

  • Business and Industry Experience in area applying for or Associates Degree in area applying for, and business/ industry, or Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university and business/industry experience in area applying for.
  • Appropriate teaching certificate, (Provisional or Standard) as issued by the State of Arizona to include appropriate Career and Technical Education certification
  • Valid Fingerprint Clearance Card.

 

Computer Proficiency:  Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, and Email Systems

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects or controls. The employee occasionally is required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk, bend and sit, and is occasionally required to stoop or kneel. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to ten pounds and occasionally lift and/or move over twenty five pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Indoor office environment.  This position regularly works indoors. The noise level in the work environment is generally quiet to moderate and may become excessively noisy at times.  Will have contact with employees, external agencies and the public.
