SUMMARY: Assists in the identification of students needing reading and/or math

support and delivers designated curriculum in group settings to identified students under the general supervision of the teacher, academic coach, principal.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: :  may include the following, as assigned. Other duties may also be assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

 

  • Assists with school-wide and classroom screenings.
  • Delivers early reading and/or math, and speech and/or behavior intervention curriculum to targeted groups.
  • Follows teacher/academic coach intervention plan, and specific program guidelines to deliver targeted instruction.
  • Responsible for actively collaborating with teacher/academic coach to meet the varying needs of students requiring intervention.
  • Assesses and reports students' progress to teachers, administration, and parents

regularly.

  • Enters data from interventions.
  • Generates reports at school level for interventions.
  • Attends appropriate in-service trainings.
  • Provides support to other positions as needed.
  • Prepares reports for teachers in preparation for grades.
  • Assumes additional responsibilities, as appropriate, with little or no supervision.
  • Works with and supports other professionals, including but not limited to, teacher,

academic coach, principal, and other approved related service providers.

  • Appropriately communicates with classroom teacher and special education teacher by sharing ideas and concerns about assigned students in a timely manner.
  • Maintains student confidentiality, shares effective strategies and essential information with school staff who have a direct educational interest.
  • Demonstrates an in-depth understanding of the identified students including learning style, capacity, preference and triggers for problem behaviors.
  • Establishes and maintains positive and clear communication with each identified student, site staff, families, academic coach, principal.
  • Clearly and effectively articulates the learning goals and student progress to school staff, families and representatives from community agencies.
  • Participates in additional staff development opportunities in areas such as: positive behavior supports and intervention design as assigned by the general education and/or special education teacher.

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: to perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

 

THE INTERVENTIONIST SHALL NOT SERVE IN THE FOLLOWING CAPACITIES:

 

  • Evaluations
  • Student or employee discipline
  • Student counseling
  • Student home visits
  • PTSO, Site Council, sport or club sponsorship
  • Lunch, recess, before/after school duties
  • Substituting for a teacher/covering classes

 

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Associates degree or higher in related field
  • Minimum Two (2) years classroom experience
  • Or an equivalent combination of relevant education, training, and/or experience as approved by the Principal or Director.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card

 

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

 

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:     Nine (9) month contract.
